Bishop Samir Kafity, Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem (ret.), was the first person to endorse and support the founding of The Society for Biblical Studies. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors. He has co-lead several journeys to the Holy Land and has spoken at many of our conferences.
Bishop Ann Sherer, United Methodist Bishop of the Nebraska Annual Conference,
pioneered immersion experiences for ordinands of the Missouri Annual Conference.
She co-lead mission study programs to the Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Greece

Bishop Sharon Rader, United Methodist Bishop of the Wisconsin Annual Conference (ret.), Bishop in Residence at Garrett Evangelical Theological School, has lead journeys for clergy, laity and seminarians to Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt and Greece.
Before he died in 2004, Dr. Michael Prior, C.M., was an eager participant in the S.B.S. enterprise. He coined the phrase "interrogative pilgrimage" that defines our journeys. His ground breaking work in moral critique of the Bible was courageous, revolutionary, provocative and exigent. He brought humor to our mission and continues to inspire us.
The Rev. Jon Almond is a United Methodist pastor from Providence, Rhode Island. He was the first President of the Board of Directors and served for five years in that capacity. He is our Coordinator of Donor Cultivation
