This pilgrimage is intended to introduce prospective group leaders to experiential, contextual study for the purpose of exploring the feasibility of future group travel. Prospective travelers must qualify and the journey will include discussions about how to design a program and how to enroll others into it. Participants will experience a range of options for future group travel.
The pilgrimage will introduce prospective group leaders to experiential, contextual study and its value for clergy and lay spiritual development and, biblical study. It pilgrimage will provide an overview of the geographical, social, historical, archaeological and cultural settings of the Bible. It will help participants gain an overview of modern biblical scholarship, including the rudiments of archaeology, and its importance for professors, students, clergy and lay people.
Consistent with our mission of reforming biblical scholarship by making it relevant to the worlds in which we travel, this program is designed to help participants to become familiar with the nature of Christianity in the Holy Land and the role of the church today. It will deepen our understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, its impact on neighboring countries, the ingedients and possibilities for peacemaking.

Day 1 Depart U.S.A.
Day 2 Arrive Tel Aviv, Orientation & Introductions, overnight in Bethlehem .
Day 3 Bethlehem, Old City walking tour,
Church of the Nativity, Herodion, Shepherd's Fields, Palestinian refugee camp,
overnight in Bethlehem.
Day 4 The Mt. of Olives, Wadi Qelt , St. George's overview, Qumran, The Dead Sea, Jericho, overnight in Galilee.
Day 5 Nazareth, Sisters of Nazareth Convent, Sepphoris, overnight in Galilee.
Day 6 Boat ride on the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Tabgha, Mt. of the Beatitudes, Jordan River Valley, overnight in Bethlehem.
Day 7 Mt. of Olives, Dominus Flevit, Garden of Gethsemane, Old city walking tour, Western Wall, Lithostratos, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, overnight in Bethlehem.
Day 8 Jerusalem and its Environs at the Time of Jesus, overnight in Bethlehem
Day 9 Return to the USA
