A Contemporary Studies pilgrimage in Jordan, Israel, Palestine
led by
Professor Andrew Park

This pilgrimage will acquaint participants with geographical and cultural settings of the Bible and relate historical studies to contemporary dynamics in Israel, Palestine and Jordan. It will satisfy the United's requirements of the Transcultural Experience. In addition to providing a general overview to biblical archaeology and geography, it will introduce participants to the peoples and problems of the contemporary. We will focus especially on the history, nature and role of the Church in the modern Middle East. Special attention will be given to understanding the roots and potential resolution of the Israeli-Paelstinian conflict. The pilgrimage will include morning and evening fora on historical and contemporary themes and visits with indigenous people. Please see the attached syllabus for more details.
